Message from the Governor
Welcome to the website of the South Central District, one of the oldest districts of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. (NANBPWC). Founded in 1935, NANBPWC emerged as a national non-profit organization in light of the need to promote and protect the interests of women business owners and professionals.
In its forty-eighth year, the South Central District’s geographic assignment spans across the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The membership includes women from varying aspects of business and the professions who work together to serve the communities in which they live.
Committed to serving others and, in keeping with the mandate of the National Association, the District offers programs that focus on improved health conditions, educational excellence, and economic empowerment. However, we are embarking upon a change that will expand our programmatic prospectus beyond the national themes of Health, Education, Employment and Economic Development to align with current trends and demands. The district’s emphasis is shifting to leadership training for its members and to development of programs that will enhance technological proficiency and promote entrepreneurialism among women of all ages.
Another major aspect of the District's plan of action includes mentoring activities for youth. Personal growth and development projects for young people age twelve through eighteen are sponsored by local clubs and through district programs. The curriculum addresses the National Youth Department Theme, “Recognizing M.Y.S.P.A.C.E,” which refers to Membership Development, Youth Entrepreneurialism, Serving Our Communities, Professionalism/Preparedness, Activism, Cultural Awareness and Education.
We hope you will find this website enlightening!
